KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, on Sunday claimed to have killed four suspected gangsters in two ‘encounters’ in Lyari and Taiser Town, a spokesperson for the paramilitary force said.

The force conducted an intelligence-based targeted operation in Lyari on suspected hideouts of gang warfare suspects at around 2.30am.

When the Rangers sneaked into the hideout located at Adam Tea Store, the suspected gangsters opened indiscriminate fire on the troops and tried to flee into the narrow lanes to escape arrest.

The Rangers retaliated and killed two of them while other suspects escaped into the lanes taking advantage of darkness.The deceased were later identified as Adnan Baloch and Sajid Ganga.

“They belonged to the Uzair Baloch-led gang and were operating in old Golimar area,” said the spokesperson.

“They were wanted in number of target killings, kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes cases.”

The force claimed to have seized weapons from their possession.

In the other encounter on late Saturday night, the Rangers killed two suspects on the outskirts of the metropolis.

Acting on a tip-off, the paramilitary force conducted a targeted raid in Taiser Town. On seeing the personnel, the suspects started firing in their attempt to escape. In the ensuing encounter, two suspects were killed.

Their identity could not be ascertained immediately.

Weapons were seized from their possession, claimed the Rangers official.

Transporter shot dead in Lyari

A 35-year-old transport operator was shot dead in the Baghdadi area of Lyari on late Saturday night, police said.

They added that Shahid Khaliq was sitting at a restaurant in Moosa Lane with a friend when two gunmen attacked and killed him.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. The victim was a resident of Raxer Lane and transporter, said Baghdadi SHO Nisar Ahmed Lodhi.

Fifth man killed in blood feud

A fifth member of a family was murdered in Pak Colony late on Saturday night in what was described as the revenge killing, police said.

They added that Waheed Shah, 17, was standing near his home in Central Muslimabad when armed motorcyclists attacked and killed him.

The victim’s father, Malik Shah had killed two people in the same locality a few years ago, said Pak Colony SHO Irfan Afridi.

Since then not only Malik Shah, but three other members of his family had been murdered in revenge and now his son was also killed, the police added.
