SIUT workshop discusses fistula

KARACHI: A three-day workshop concluded at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) on Sunday elucidating an in-depth study of medical and social complications of vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) in women in developing countries, including Pakistan.

The highlight of the workshop was the participation of three eminent uro-gynaecologists from Africa who shared their professional experience with their Pakistani counterparts.

The experts included Dr Sohier Elneil of African descent representing University College London, Prof Serigne Magueye from Senegal and Professor Oladosu Ojengbede from Nigeria.

The three experts have specialised in the fields of obstetric fistula, bladder cancer and urinary tract disorder.

Prof Adibul Hasan Rizvi and Prof Manzoor Hussain of SIUT and Dr Tariq Tasaduq from Saudi Arabia spoke elaborately, focusing on bladder and pelvic dysfunction which caused fistula disorder and required surgical repair.
