Inter-School Tennis begins today

KARACHI: Thirty teams representing seventeen schools have confirmed their participation in the Horlicks Inter-School Tennis Tournament which will commence at Karachi Gymkhana’s tennis courts from Saturday (today).

The tournament will be held on weekends in which schools will compete against one another in two age groups, i.e. under 15 and 16-18 years.

The event, which will be organised by Razia Babar & Nabil Hoodbhoy of Perfect Strokes as part of a school tennis initiative program, is aimed at promoting the game at the grass root level in the country and also provide a platform for fostering competitiveness and team spirit amongst the youth in schools.

The first edition of inter-school team tennis tournament was held last year and this is the second such event which will be sponsored wholly by Horlicks.

Each team will compete against one another in two singles and one doubles match.

Finals are scheduled for Sept 20.—Agencies
