Non-bailable arrest warrants issued for former QDA officers

QUETTA: The provincial accountability court on Wednesday has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for five officers of the Quetta Development Authority (QDA) on charges of embezzling Rs417 million from the national exchequer.

The former QDA officials are accused of illegally allotting more than 2100 illegal plots.

The accused include the former Director General of QDA Muhammad Zakir, Assistant Director Zafar Iqbal Magsi and three other officers.

Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had sent references to an accountability court against the five officers of QDA for allotting more than 2100 illegal plots.

According to NAB, the five QDA officers had allotted plots under the Hazar Ganji master plan.

The QDA was allowed to allot 964 plots under the Hazar Ganji plan, but the accused had allotted more than 3000 plots to individuals, with the majority being allotted to land mafia.
