Swabi nazim warns against meddling in district govt affairs

SWABI: The PTI-led provincial government should assist the local governments to strengthen institutions, said Ameer Rehman, the newly elected district nazim.

In a statement here on Monday, he said that meddling in the affairs of district government would not be allowed. “We are elected by the people and we should be allowed to continue our work with complete concentration to make the institutions strong,” said Mr Rehman, who is also district president of ANP.

He said that unemployment was one of the major problems in the district and his government would focus on giving a result-oriented hope to educated youth.

The district nazim said that there were numerous problems in health sectors.

He said that they would take the health officials and other staff along into confidence to create an environment where they could easily deliver.

Mr Rehman said that it was responsibility of the provincial government to ensure smooth flow of funds, which would help the district governments to meet the expectations and demands of people.

“We have planned to make the district a new model and anybody, who can help us, is welcomed,” he added.

He said that they would follow the ‘non-violence philosophy’ of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. He said that they had worked for peace because peace was prerequisite for economic progress and prosperity.

He said that their leaders and workers preached peace even in the worst and difficult circumstances. “We always fought for our rights and this struggle will not end at any cost,” said Mr Rehman.

SEALED: The district administration has sealed three ice cream factories in Yar Hussain area for preparing unhygienic ice cream. The owners of the three factories have been arrested and district administration has registered cases against them at Yar Husain police station.

“We are further investigating the matter and all those, who are involved in providing spurious ice cream to the people, especially children, would never be allowed by the district administration,” said Deputy Commissioner Matiullah Khan.

He said that the three factories used to supply unhygienic ice cream to Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda and Bunner districts.

To a question, the deputy commissioner said that they would not stop there and the crackdown would continue without any break. He appealed to the people to help the district administration in taking action against fake factories of ice cream and other food items.
