Fake PFA team arrested for swindling eateries

LAHORE: A gang posing as a team of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), including a woman impersonating PFA director Ayesha Mumtaz, was caught red handed by Nishter Town police on Monday while it was swindling eateries in the area.

Police said they had received complaints from the owners of various eateries that a four-member team, led by a woman, claiming to be PFA director Ayesha Mumtaz, was raiding their food outlets and blackmailing them. They also reported that the team used to flee after getting handsome amount of cash from them.

Police, led by Nishter Colony SHO Asif Zulfiqar, caught the swindlers red handed when they were ‘raiding’ and swindling the eateries.

All the four members of the gang, including the ringleader, Naheed Akhtar, were arrested. The other three members of the gang were identified as Ejaz, Naeem and Jameel. Police also recovered PFA cards, video cameras, Rs7,500 and a van from them and registered a case.
