Soil erosion in GB

SOIL erosion in Gilgit-Baltisitan has become a major problem. It needs to be tackled as an emergency by the federal and provincial governments.

A survey shows that the area is totally at the mercy of various rivers, which descend with a devastating impact during summer. The Shigar valley on the bank of the Shigar river is the most affected area, and there is constant soil erosion. This is reducing its cultivable area.

I urge the federal government as well as the Gilgit-Baltistan administration led by Chief Minster Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman to look into the matter.
