The tainted trio

CRICKET is a team sport and not an individual’s game. In teams like Australia, England and South Africa, no player is above the team. Stars like Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Symonds and Jesse Ryder were removed from their teams for various offences. These players have not only disappeared from the international scene but the domestic circuit as well.

In Pakistan there is much support for Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir to play cricket. Had these players belonged to any other team, their international and domestic careers would be over the minute they were found guilty and even their most ardent supporters would have turned their backs on them.

These players have tarnished Pakistan’simage and broken the people’s hearts. If they had even a shred of dignity left, they would never venture near a stadium let alone play cricket.
