Women’s cricket team to tour WI in October

LAHORE: Pakistan women’s cricket team will tour the West Indies from Oct 14 to Nov 2 to play a limited-overs series comprising four one-dayers and three T20s.

The PCB women’s selection committee has announced a 16-member squad for the tour, on which Sana Mir will lead the side, along with four standbys.

To prepare for the tour, a training camp will be announced shortly.

Three of the four one-dayers Pakistan team will be playing in the West Indies are part of the ICC ODI Women’s Championship, which is also a qualification process for the World Cup to be held in England in 2017, said a spokesman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) here on Thursday.

On their way back from the Caribbean, on the invitation of the USACA, the Pakistan team will visit the US to play two friendly T20 matches between Nov 2 and 6, at Fort Lauderdale in Florida.

Sana Mir (captain), Bismah Maroof (vice-captain), Nain Abidi, Nida Rashid, Rabiya Shah, Asmavia Iqbal, Javeria Wadood, Sania Iqbal, Marina Iqbal, Sumayya Siddique, Sidra Amin, Iram Javed, Diana Baig, Aliya Riaz, Anam Amin, Ayesha Zafar.

Officials: Ayesha Ashar (manager), Motashim Rasheed (coach), Ibrar Ahmed (trainer), Rifat Asghar Gill (physiotherapist), Usman Hashmi (analyst).
