Naan shops, eateries penalised

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority sealed on Monday many food producing units, eateries, restaurants etc across the provincial capital besides imposing fine on others for flouting health and hygiene rules and regulations.

A special team headed by Director (Operations) Ms Ayesha Mumtaz sealed Venus Foods Pakistan (Limited) at Thokar Niaz Beg (Multan Road) for doing business without licence and having no medical fitness certificates of the workers.

The PFA team in Gulberg Town sealed Haidri Naan Shop, Hameed Gull Tea Stall, Swat Hotel, Sardar Store and Madler Food in Barkat Market.

Similarly it imposed fine on Laal Qila Restaurant, Haji Milk Shop and Darvesh Chanay in the same market.

Ravi Town PFA team sealed Hafeez Hotel, Mian Meer Naan Shop, Akbar Hotel and Shakar Garian Hotel and imposed fine on Jhoolay Laal Paan Shop, Waseem Nawaz Mirch Chaki and Nasir Chishtian Naan Shop in Badami Bagh area.

Shalimar Town team sealed Al-Karam Bakery at Basharat Road and imposed fine on Shahzad Sweets.

The PFA team in Data Gang Bakhsh Town sealed Iceland and Mehr Food at Qartaba Chowk and imposed fine on Pizza House. In Samanabad, the team sealed Aslam Bakery and discarded many broken eggs.

Wagah Town team sealed Allah Tawakal Bakery at GT Road whereas Nishtar Town team sealed G-Food Slanty Unit at Ferozepur Road and imposed fine on Ismaeel Naan Shop and Hotel.

Aziz Bhatti Town team imposed fine on Bhutto Murgh Chanay and Gujrati Hotel at Zarar Shaheed Road.

The sealed premises, according to officials, would be unsealed after one week subject to gravity of offence.

Meanwhile, the PFA conducted a training workshop to build capacity of the 15 food inspectors belonging to Lahore and Walton Cantonment boards.
