Six vehicles added to POF welfare transport fleet

TAXILA:  As many as six vehicles including three buses and two vans were added to the POF welfare transport service fleet on Sunday.

An induction ceremony in this regard was held here at Ordnance Club in which POF Chief Lt General Omar Mahmood Hayat handed over the vehicles to the welfare transport service management.

Speaking on the occasion, POF Chief Lt-Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat urged the welfare transport management to provide maximum transportation facilities to the dwellers of garrison city of Wah.

Earlier, retired Brig Taqdees Ahmed, Director POF Welfare Trust in his address of welcoming said the transport service was established in 1982 in order to provide travelling facilities to the POF employees and their families within Wah Cantt. The continuous addition of the vehicles to the fleet of welfare transport service is being made since its inception.

In 2012, 11 Suzuki vans and 16 Toyota Hiace Vans were included in the transport service at the cost of Rs36.3 million.

The director further added that 13,000 passengers travelled through this service on six different routes within Wah Cantt while some vehicles provided pick and drop to the children of POF employees for schools/colleges.
