DERA GHAZI KHAN: High flood in Wador hill torrent on Sunday devastated ancient hamlet Wador in arid zone of the district while, according to flood victims, the district government did not issue any warning to residents.

The hill torrent is named after the ancient village.

Following the torrential rains on mountains of Sulaiman range and Balochistan, high flood emerged in Wador hill torrent. As much as 129,000 cusec water flowed into the channel while its capacity is 83,000 cusec.

Earlier in 2012, flood waters of Wador had flowed into the DG Khan city.

This time the city is hit by urban flooding and it remained safe from high flood in hill torrent.

The Wador hamlet has been a resting place for the travelling devotees of Sakhi Sarwar and is situated at ancient route to subcontinent.

ADC Saifur Rehman said around 2,000 residents of Wador and 150 houses were affected by the violent waters of the hill torrent.

Residents of Wador -- Hashim, Pir Bakhsh, Allah Ditta and Sajid -- told Dawn that people were not aware of the flood in the hill torrent.
