Flood blocks road travel between Punjab, KP

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Road traffic link between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could not be restored even 48 hours after a 300-foot portion of the Indus highway was swept away from both sides of Khud Buzdar bridge by a hill torrent from Wahowa, 190km from here in Taunsa Sharif tehsil of the district, sources told Dawn.

A high flood from Wahowa-Kaura mountainous area eroded 300ft long portion of the highway on both sides of the bridge. The flood has also inundated over five villages.

The district government has established relief camps for flood-affected people.

LANDSLIDE: Following continuous downpour on Sulaiman Range, a landslide blocked the Dera-Quetta road linking Balochistan with Punjab. The landslide occurred on Saturday evening near Rakhi Gaaj tribal area.

A high flood of 100,000 cusecs in Wadore was also likely to pass through the city.
