Dir traders back strike call against withholding tax

TIMERGARA: Local traders on Friday announced to support the strike call given by the All Pakistan Traders Association against the withholding tax in bank transactions on Saturday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Anjuman Tajaran Timergara chaired by its president Haji Anwaruddin.

The participants rejected the withholding tax and termed it a step against the business community. They decided to observe complete shutter down in the district today (Saturday).

The traders demanded of the government to reduce the loadshedding duration across the district, especially in Timergara city, as power outages and low voltage had affected their businesses. The traders also condemned killing of two people in Timergara bazaar and demanded of police to arrest the killers.

Meanwhile, the district police on Saturday claimed to have fined 5,300 transporters during July for violating traffic rules. Talking to journalists, district traffic in charge Hazrat Hussain said Rs1 million had been recovered from transporters as fine for unlicensed driving, over-speeding and over-charging commuters.
