Electoral reforms in Pakistan

THE Judicial Commission Report findings state that the commission found no evidence of massive or systematic and organised rigging in the 2013 election.

Now, it is exigent that all political parties and other stake holders instead of indulging in mudslinging should come forward for electoral reforms.

The JCR clearly mentions mismanagement and maladministration during the election. This shows the ineptness on the part of the election commission and its officials.

Rigging allegations have been a common phenomenon in Pakistan. The PML-N as the governing party in Pakistan should expedite the electoral reforms process forthwith to make the Election Commission of Pakistan a more powerful and competent institution.

Hence all laws regarding the electoral process should be amended. However, an improved electoral system requires a justice system that delivers. Reforming one component will not work. Thus synchronised reforms are the need of the hour.
