Pakistan seem to be on right track: Wasim

ISLAMABAD: Former captain and master of swing bowling Wasim Akram believes Pakistan team have managed to form an excellent combination and it looks they are on the right track.

Talking to a news channel on Pakistan’s victory against Sri Lanka in first T20, Wasim appreciated the performance of Shoaib Malik, saying the experienced cricketer performed well after his comeback in the team.

On the surprise exclusion of in-form wicket-keeper/batsman Sarfraz Ahmed from the starting line-up of the first T20, Wasim said he was shocked to see the match-winning wicket-keeper was not playing.

About pacer Mohammad Irfan, Wasim said the lanky left-armer due to his unusual body structure would take some time to become match-fit.

The legendary all-rounder lauded the bowling and temperament of Imad Wasim saying that the left-arm spinner was suitable for T20s due to his flatter trajectory while bowling.

Meanwhile, former captain Ramiz Raja said Pakistan in the T20 series opener had bowled splendidly well and not allowing Sri Lankan batsmen to establish any partnership.

“Pakistan have got bowlers who could get wicket anytime in the match which is a an advantage in T20 cricket,” Ramiz noted.

Commenting on Umar Akmal who made a 24-ball 46 in the first T20 against Sri Lanka, Ramiz said it was good to see the right-hander back in the team and performing well.

“However, Irfan is still not in complete rhythm and he needs some more time,” reckoned Ramiz.
