Sixth round of strategic dialogue held with China

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China agreed on Thursday on consolidating the existing “all-weather Pakistan-China strategic cooperative partnership” in political, economic, strategic and other areas.

During the sixth round of Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue held here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was agreed that early and effective implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project was a key priority for both countries.

The Pakistan side was led by Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and the Chinese delegation was headed by Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao.

The two sides reviewed important aspects of bilateral ties and held a detailed exchange of views on regional and global situation.

The foreign secretary and the Chinese minister agreed on the need for respective ministries of foreign affairs to remain engaged at all levels.

Earlier, the Chinese delegation called on Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.

Mr Aziz noted that the prime minister had a fruitful meeting with the Chinese president on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in the Russian city of Ufa on July 10.

The adviser emphasised that China-Pakistan Econo-mic Corridor was the flagship project for the Chinese president’s vision of the “One Belt, One Road” and that Pakistan-China cooperation on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would enhance connectivity and contribute to prosperity and development in the entire region.
