Rahim Yar Khan tense after encounter killings

RAHIM YAR KHAN: The markets and bazaars of the city remained close on second day after killing of banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi chief Malik Ishaq and his sons here on Thursday.

Malik Ishaq was killed along with 13 others in Muzafargarh district on early Wednesday.

The bodies of five others who were killed in the ‘encounter’ were brought in different areas of the district. The deceased were buried in their native areas after funeral prayers.

Police, fearing backlash, blocked the roads near Imambargahs on Railway Road and Gulmerg Road.

Rangers and police demonstrated Flag March in the main city areas to monitor the law and order situation.

The funeral prayers for Malik Ishaq and his two sons had been offered at Markazi Eidgah late on Wednesday. They were later buried in Nooraywali graveyard.

Provincial emir of Jamiat Ulma-i-Islam (S) Maulana Habibur Rehman Darkhawsti lead the funeral prayers.
