Woman killed on resistance

SAHIWAL: A gunman shot dead a woman on Wednesday in her home in Farid Town over resistance.

Rescue 1122 officials said Saleema Bibi, believed to be in her 60s, was shot in the head by the gunman. The gunman had demanded keys from her and when she resisted, he shot her dead and fled with her jewellery and a mobile phone.

Police have yet to register a case.

COMMISSIONER: Sahiwal Commissioner Sohail Shahzad has been made an officer on special duty and Gujranwala District Coordination Officer Azmat Mahmood will replace him.

Mr Shahzad told reporters he was to join a management course, so he had asked the Punjab government to relieve him for the course.

RAID: Pakpattan police with security agencies raided Railway Colony, Railway Rest House and railway station in Pakpattan late on Tuesday and took into custody two persons.

Pakpattan District Police Officer Shah Nawaz Sandhila said the operation was launched on intelligence information.

Police took into custody several people but released them on confirmation of their identity.

The search operation continued for three hours. The two persons taken into custody were later shifted to some undisclosed location.

Police chose not to share their identity.
