JC report

THE inquiry commission has given an unambiguous verdict on the veracity of the 2013 elections.

The detailed verdict addressed all the three TORs, and found no evidence of organised rigging as no such evidence was produced by the PTI. The verdict has to a great extent restored the credibility of our electoral system. It has also given space to all parties involved in the issue to re-examine their priorities.

The PMLN should not gloat over the verdict, and discharge its mandate of serving the people. The PTI should show some contrition and indulge in some serious soul-searching. The election commission should pull up its socks, as procedural lapses in the 2014 elections were many and need to be addressed.
