Private schools

CHILDREN have dreams and parents have dreams. However, government schools did not help them realise their dreams.

Initially, private schools played a marvellous role in educating children. But now most private schools of Sindh are like government schools. The only difference is that in government schools the teachers are ghost teachers whereas in private schools teachers are available but they are not highly educated and have little or no experience at all. If someone is only a non-matriculate, the school allows him or her to teach.

Some teachers are appointed at salaries which are as low as Rs2,000 or Rs2,500 per month, which is against the law.

In the interior of Sindh, private schools are found in almost every street, but their performance is not impressive. They hire mostly female staff for nursery sections which is appreciable but most of them have not even cleared their intermediate.

The government should ensure that private schools hire highly educated teachers.
