Salaries of over 100 govt employees stopped

MIRPURKHAS: The Mirpurkhas district treasury office suspended the accounts of over 100 employees of the various departments following detection of serious irregularities, including undue or over payments. Disbursement of salaries, allowances or other dues to the employees has been stopped till the completion of the accounts.

Sources close to the treasury officials said on Wednesday that an investigation into the alleged involvement of several officers in extending undue favour to the employees was also under way.

The preliminary investigation showed that the employees drawing amounts from the treasury in excess to their entitlement had been maintaining their accounts facilitated by some suspicious officers of their respective departments, the sources said.

Education director (primary) Jalil Ahmed Lashari has, meanwhile, issued a letter addressed to the district accounts officer pleading the case of two of the affected employees posted at Kot Ghulam Mohammed taluka. The letter stated that the two employees had been appointed genuinely on merit and there was no irregularity found in the disbursement of their salaries and dues.

He requested the officer to restore their accounts.
