Lahore ‘tops’ districts acting against price hike, overcharging

LAHORE: The city administration claims that Lahore tops all districts in action against price hike and overcharging by arresting 3,364 shopkeepers since June 19 (1st of Ramazan).

“Throughout the province, our city is on top of the list in launching an unprecedented crackdown on those involved in overcharging, hoarding and selling substandard commodities in open markets. It was due to extensive work of our 104 price control magistrates, who arrested 3,364 vendors besides imposing fines worth millions on several others in this regard,” District Coordination Officer retired Capt Muhammad Usman said in a statement on Monday.

He appealed to the people to cooperate with the City District Government of Lahore in controlling prices by informing it.

Meanwhile, the CDGL’s special squad on Monday captured 31 beggars and shifted them to Edhi Centres and Subhani homes for rehabilitation.

POSTING, TRANSFER: The Lahore Development Authority administration on Monday entrusted the additional charge of land development-IV director to Moazzam Rasheed, Estate Management (QAT) director. Upon recommendations of the LDA’s Departmental Promotion committee, the administration also promoted five sub-engineers (BS-16) to assistant director (engineering/BS-17).

These officers included Muhammad Irfan Baig, Rana Mehmood Ikram, Muhammad Arshad, Mushtaq Ahmed and Zia Hussain, according to an LDA spokesman.
