Details about Musharraf’s medical treatment sought

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday sought details from former president Pervez Musharraf about his treatment as advised by a medical board to ascertain his health condition.

Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi issued the order while hearing a petition filed by Gen Musharraf against the issuance of his non-bailable arrest warrants.

On June 19, local court Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti issued the warrants while rejecting Musharraf’s plea for exemption from appearing before the court on medical grounds in the murder case of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi.

Justice Qureshi observed that Musharraf had undergone a thorough medical check-up in April 2015 and asked whether any action had been taken according to the recommendations of the medical board and if Gen Musharraf was undergoing any treatment or not.

The counsel for Gen Musharraf, however, sought time to submit the details. Further hearing on the petition was adjourned till a date to be fixed by the registrar office.
