Two brothers sentenced to death for murder

SHIKARPUR: Two brothers were sentenced to death on Monday for killing a professor in Shikarpur three years ago.

Mir Mohammed Shujra and Allah Wadhayo Shujra were booked at the Faujdari police station for shooting Professor Ghulam Qadir Shura near Govt High School No 1.

Fourth Additional Sessions Judge of Shikarpur Zahid Hussain Metlo on Monday awarded capital punishment to the two accused declaring that the prosecution had successfully pleaded its case.

Soldier drowns in canal

An army soldier drowned while bathing in the Sindh canal late Sunday evening, officials at the New Faujdari police station said.

They identified the victim as Eijaz Khattak, son of Badshah Khattak, and said that he hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and served in the 22-signal battalion.

The police said that he and his friends were enjoying a picnic and the group was bathing in the canal when Mr Khattak disappeared. His body was fished out and taken to the Shikarpur Civil Hospital by his friends for a post-mortem examination.
