ASI arrested for illegal detention

OKARA: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was arrested here on Saturday for detaining a man and minting money from him in Depalpur on Wednesday.

Imran, of Pakpattan, complained to District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Rana that ASI Tariq Khawar of Depalpur City police took him into custody on Wednesday from Pakpattan and detained him at a private property in Depalpur. He said he paid Rs12,000 to the ASI to secure his release.

The complainant said he used to pay bribe to the ASI when he was dealing in drugs in the past. Now, he had given up the business on oath before the Chak Bedi police in Pakpattan.

The DPO got the complaint probed and the ASI was found guilty of detaining the complainant. Then the DPO got the ASI arrested under sections 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 155-C of the Police Order of 2002.
