GIK Institute’s entry test today

SWABI: Entrance test to various disciplines of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology would be held across the country on Sunday (today), said Jehangir Bashar, Rector GIK Institute, here on Saturday.

He told mediapersons that the entry test centres had been established in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar and Quetta.

Mr Bashar said the deputed staff had already reached their respective centres and all the arrangements to conduct the entry test in a befitting manner had been completed under the supervision of entry test committee members.

He said successful applicants would be offered admissions in disciplines of chemical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering (electronics), engineering sciences, materials engineering (manufacturing), materials engineering (nanotechnology), computer science, mechanical engineering and management sciences.

In reply to a question he said there was no reserved quota and the applicants were selected on merit. “The score in the entry test of each student would determine his/her admission in any discipline of engineering and management sciences in the institute,” he added.

Since its establishment in 1993, the institute provides financial assistance and scholarships to various students from its own resources.

In addition, a number of students are sponsored by provincial governments and numerous organisations, he said.
