Hafeez to appear for biomechanics test on Monday

LAHORE: Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will miss the third and final Test against Sri Lanka after the International Cricket Council (ICC) fixed July 6 as a date for a biomechanics test on his suspect bowling action to be conducted in a laboratory in Chennai.

The third Test commences in Pallelke on Friday.

A spokesman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Thursday that ICC had conveyed the date for the test verbally and soon a letter would also reach to the PCB.

Hafeez has to prove his nine different deliveries correct in the coming test and failure to do so would result in a one-year ban.

Earlier, the same laboratory had cleared Hafeez as he resumed bowling in April after being called in November last year.

However, Hafeez was reported again on June 21 during the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle and according to the ICC rules he was to appear before the lab in next 14 days after being called.

The ICC had fixed July 4 as date for his test but the Indian High Commissioner in Colombo failed to issue him visa well on time. He was issued the visa on Thursday as the ICC moved the test two days later.
