PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Wednesday asked Turkish investors to explore opportunities to put money in housing, infrastructure development and agriculture sectors of the province.

He was speaking to the representatives of a Turkish investment group during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House.

Senator Mohsin Aziz and secretaries of local government and housing departments also attended the meeting.

According to an official statement issued here, the visitors briefed the chief minister about their group’s activities in Turkey and Pakistan and offered investment in housing sector of the province.

The chief minister said his government was offering incentives to investors in housing, infrastructure development and agriculture sectors for public-private partnership.

Referring to the Peshawar Model Town project, Khattak said local and foreign builders should invest in housing projects on royalty basis.

He said outsourcing private builders would save the government’s money on one hand and provide better housing facilities to the people on the other.

The chief minister asked Turkish investors to look into the possibility of developing a model town in Jalozai area of Nowshera, saying around 3,000 kanals of land was available for the project.

INQUIRY ORDERED: The chief minister also ordered inquiry against the Abbottabad communication and works officials over delay in the construction of 59 kilometers roads in Galiyat.

The order was issued during a meeting held here.

According to an official statement issued here, Khattak expressed anger at the delay in the construction of Galiyat roads and 24 kilometers Barian-Nathiagali Road.

The chief minister asked the relevant officials of the communication and works department and National Highway Authority to ensure early completion of work on the roads in question.

He said he had ordered construction of the said roads within nine months but unfortunately, the Abbottabad communication and work department dragged the period to 18 months despite availability of funds.

Khattak ordered the department to ensure execution of all infrastructure and building projects in the province within the stipulated time and warned contractors failing to meet deadlines would be heavily fined.
