DPOs get drone cameras

LAHORE: Over 50 drone cameras have been distributed among the district police officers of the province in order to equip the Punjab police with the latest technology.

The drone cameras would particularly help ensure security of the participants in religious processions across Punjab and surveillance of the hideouts of criminals for operational purpose.

Every district got a drone camera while special branch and Lahore police received three each. All police training schools and colleges, specialised protection unit (SPU), Lahore, and Rawalpindi traffic police were given one camera each.

Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera said maximum utilisation of the latest technology would enable the department not only to control crime but also help it curb terrorism and smash gangs. The security of the officers could also be managed through the technology.

He said traffic management could be improved with the help of the cameras.
