Ambulances being used as passenger vans seized
NAWABSHAH: Personnel of federal law enforcement agencies raided the Nawabshah-Sehwan transport stand a day earlier and took into custody seven passenger vans which were originally ambulances donated to the Sindh government during the 2012 floods, sources told Dawn on Monday.
The sources said the vans were donated by a former federal minister to be used as ambulances during the 2012 floods but later a close aide of a highly important political personality took possession of the vehicles and had them converted them into passenger vans.
He was plying the vehicles on the Nawabshah-Sehwan route to take personal financial benefit, said the sources, adding a few arrests were also made in this connection. The federal sleuths took action on a tip-off, they added.
