Rs57m approved for Dir schools’ boundary walls

TIMERGARA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved over Rs57 million for construction of boundary walls of government schools for boys in Lower Dir district.

This was stated by district education officer, male, Dr Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim while addressing a meeting of schools’ principals and headmasters here on Saturday.

He said that each high and higher secondary school in the district would also be provided Rs100, 000 for promotion of sports. Deputy Education Officer Mohammad Riaz and Assistant District Officers Ali Haidar and Fayyaz ud Din were also in attendance.

Mr Ibrahim said that a total of 149 government primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools in the district would be provided with Rs3.85 million each. He said the amount had been transferred to the accounts of the parent-teacher councils of the schools.

The DEO asked the schools’ heads to utilise the funds properly on development activities and send the work report to him. He also directed heads of schools to deduct from salaries of teachers found absent from duty by independent monitors from March 2014 to May 2015.

SSC RESULTS DECLARED: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Malakand, on Saturday announced results of annual secondary school certificate (SSC) examinations, 2015.

Bilal Hassan of Wisdom House Public School, Timergara, topped the overall results obtaining 1,028 marks. Umama Qayyum of Avicenna Model School, Dargai, bagged 1,027 marks and stood second while Salman Farsi of Hira School & College, Timergara, obtained 1,023 marks and stood third, respectively.

Meanwhile, the local mediapersons boycotted the BISE, Malakand function in protest against uncalled-for attitude of the board authorities.

Despite repeated calls to the controller of examinations he couldn’t be contacted.

PML-N, PTI ALLIANCE: The PML-N and PTI on Saturday formed an alliance for setting up local government in Khall tehsil of Lower Dir.

A decision to this effect was made at a function at Khall attended by PML-N senior leader Malik Jehan Zeb Khan, PML-N district president Malik Behram Shehzada, and Akhunzada Hidayatullah and Malik Fakhre Hayat of PTI.

The parties agreed to support each other in formation of tehsil government in Khall. According to the agreement Akhunzada Yousaf of PTI would be nominated as tehsil nazim and Malik Asad of PML-N as naib nazim.
