12 IUB students booked for torture of fellows

BAHAWALPUR: The Baghdadul Jadid police on Sunday registered a case against 12 students for the alleged kidnapping and torturing of two students Muhammad Irfan Aslam and Muhammaed Usman of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB).

Police said following an argument between two student groups of Rangers’ Campus, 12 students including Rafiq, Habib, Muneeb allegedly kidnapped Irfan Aslam and Usman the other day. The suspects took them to a house in commercial area of Satellite Town and allegedly tortured them.

After receipt of information, police raided the house and recovered the boys while the captors managed their escape. Police have registered a case with no arrest.

FOUR KILLED: Four people were killed and five others sustained injuries in three incidents on Sunday.

According to rescue and police sources, two labourers Rashid and Dilawar expired due to poisonous gas while working in a well near Musafirkhana, about 30-km from here.

Farooq, Shahbaz and Rafiq fell unconscious and were rushed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).

In another incident, labourer Muhammad Ramzan sitting on a tractor-trolley fell down and was crushed under the wheels of the trolley.

Police said the tyre of the trolley laden with woods burst near Lallowali Mor in Uch Sharif area as a result Ramzan fell down while the driver lost control over the steering and the trolley fell into the nearby drain. Abdul Khaliq and another labourer suffered serious injuries and were shifted to Uch Sharif Hospital..

In the third case, Sonia Bibi (22) died while her brother-in-law suffered injuries when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding wagon near Mor Khandan, Khairpur Tamewali, on Hasilpur Road.

Police have registered an FIR against the wagon driver who managed his escape.

ROBBERY: In a broad daylight armed robbery, two motorcyclists allegedly looted medical store owner Altaf on busy Circular Road in front of Bahawal Victoria Hospital on Sunday. The suspects took away a cash of Rs100,000. The Kotwali police have registered a case.
