Labaik TV: Shoaib told to file reply

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the chief executive officer of Axact, Shoaib Shaikh, and others on Friday to file replies on a plea of the federal government against their inclusion as directors in the Labaik TV channel.

The federal government in its petition said that Labaik TV channel had included Mr Shaikh and three others as directors. However, the interior ministry had excluded their names from the list of directors and shareholders as they did not have the required security clearance. The court was informed that later the directors obtained a stay order from the high court against the government’s decision.

The law officer representing the government told a two-judge bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah that the federal government had also questioned the transparency in affairs of Axact and prayed to the court to vacate the stay granted against the interior ministry’s decision. The bench would take up the matter again on June 5.
