Two buried alive as mine collapses

LANDI KOTAL: Two labourers were buried alive when a stone mine collapsed in Jamrud on Thursday.

Khasadar officials said that Younas Torkhel and Saifur Khan were busy working in a mine near Sur Kamar area when the mine caved in. They said that heavy machinery was shifted to the site, but the trapped labourers could not be retrieved till late in the evening.

Meanwhile, the Jamrud political administration sent a 40-member khasadar contingent to Peshawar to perform security duty during the Saturday’s local government elections. Officials said that it was for the first time that services of the Khasadar force were acquired for security-related duties in a settled district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
