Balochistan seeks jobs for its youth in federal departments

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on Thursday, calling on the centre to accommodate approximately 5,000 qualified engineers belonging to the province in federal government departments.

During the session presided over by the panel’s chairman Zamarak Khan Achakzai, members lamented that job quota for Balochistan in the Sui Southern Gas Company, PIA, Customs and Federal Investigation Agency was not being implemented in letter and spirit.

An opposition member, Husna Bano, tabled the resolution, saying that on an average 1,800 engineers passed out from different universities every year and currently 5,000 were registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council.

The lawmakers said that Balochistan lacked capacity to provide jobs to such large number of engineers in the province.

Taking part in the debate, Syed Liaquat Agha, Nasrullah Zeray, Mir Mujibur Rehman Muhammadhasni, Maulana Wasay, Haji Islam, Ruqayya Hashmi, Yasmin Lehri and Sardar Abdur Rehman Khetran said that qualified youth of Balochistan were being ignored by the federal departments.

They said that jobs against Balochistan quota in SSGC, PIA, FIA, Pakistan Customs and CAA were not properly advertised due to which the jobless youth remained unaware about the vacancies.

The session was adjourned till Saturday.
