Two policemen killed in D.I. Khan attack

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two policemen were killed and two others injured when their van came under attack in Darban area, some 40km from here, on Thursday.

Police said that suspected militants opened fire on the police van when it was passing through Darban area early in the morning, killing Constables Azam and Munir.

Soon after the attack, police contingents reached the crime scene and shif-ted the injured, Assis-tant Sub Inspector Abdul Sattar and Constable Shah Jehan, to the district headquarters hospital where their condition is said to be stable.

Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The attack took place at a time when security has been put on high alert across the district for local government elections in the province.
