74 suspects held, arms seized

QUETTA: The Frontier Corps picked up five suspected terrorists from Bela area of Lasbela district and 69 suspects from Quetta during search operations and seized weapons.

An FC spokesman said on Wednesday the search operation in Bela had been carried out on the basis intelligence reports. He said five suspected terrorists were arrested and 14 automatic rifles, nine machineguns, three MM16 rifles, walkie-talkie sets and rounds were found in their possession.

The FC teams also seized weapons and explosives from Chhattar area which included two RPG7 rockets, 15kg explosive substance, two anti-personnel mines, SMGs and rounds.

Meanwhile, personnel of the FC and police conducted joint operations in several areas of Quetta and detained 69 suspects besides recovering weapons from their possession.

“The weapons and other articles seized include one AK47 gun, three motorcycles and one SMG,” the FC spokesman said.

The suspects were being interrogated.
