BHC suspends transfer of deputy commissioner

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court suspended on Tuesday transfer of Sohbatpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aslam Raisani and directed the provincial chief secretary not to take any decision on the matter till further orders.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Mohammad Noor Meskanzai and Justice Mohammad Hashim Kakar issued the order while hearing a petition challenging the official’s transfer.

The court observed that Mr Raisani was victimised because he had refused to hand over his official vehicle to Balochistan Food Minister Izhar Hussain Khoso for personal use. This appeared to be a case of personal grudge and the officer was transferred despite the fact that he had not completed the normal tenure of his posting as deputy commissioner, the court said.

The court observed that repeated transfers and postings of civil servants on the recommendations of ministers or MPAs had affected the performance of bureaucracy and people also suffered because of such actions taken by the government.

The hearing was adjourned for two weeks.
