Court orders removal of FC checkposts from two Quetta roads

QUETTA: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) ordered the home secretary on Monday to ensure removal of FC checkposts from Whyte and Samungli roads in the city.

The secretary was asked to appear before the court during the next hearing, in case he failed to comply with the order. A copy of the order was sent to the FC’s inspector general for compliance.

The bench comprising Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhel and Mohammad Ejaz Swati issued the order while hearing a petition filed by one Talat Waheed.

It recalled that the home secretary had appeared during an earlier hearing and assured the court that the checkposts would be removed.

Similarly, the court said, it had earlier directed the FC authorities and the deputy attorney general to remove a checkpost from Whyte Road and they had assured the court that the order would be implemented.

But the checkpost had not been removed and another one had appeared on Samungli Road, the court noted.

The hearing was adjourned till May 30.
