PSB, IPC Ministry to meet POA, feds over Inter-provincial Games

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and the Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) will brief the sports federations and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) regarding the upcoming Inter-provincial Games on Tuesday.

Sources have told Dawn that several federations have reservations over the PSB for turning the National Games into the inaugural Quaid-i-Azam Inter-provincial Games, which are slated to be held here at the Pakistan Sports Complex from June 9 to 12.

They claim that the budget documents for the fiscal year 2014-15 have Rs100 million allocated for the National Games but the PSB has turned them into Inter-provincial Games sans departments and federations in the harsh weather of June.

But the PSB claims that it was mistakenly mentioned in the budget documents that the amount has been allocated for the National Games with some PSB officials saying that it had, in an official letter, requested the Ministry of Planning Commission to change the title of the games.

“I have no idea of any official correspondence but verbally we have been requesting the planning commission to change the title of the Games,” PSB’s director-general (technical) Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera told Dawn.
