Farmers rally in Lahore on 31st

BAHAWALPUR: Kissan Board Pakistan Vice President Jam Hazoor Bakhsh has announced staging a ‘big’ rally in Lahore on May 31.

According to him, the farmers would protest against the ‘apathy’ of the Punjab government towards their genuine demands and their exploitation by the sugar mills owners.

He accused the Punjab government of protecting the land mafia and overlooking their demands for provision of cheap inputs like seed, fertilizer and diesel and action against the corrupt officials of the irrigation and revenue departments who were targeting the poor cultivators in rural and urban areas.

He said the Kissan rally would begin from Nasser Bagh and after marching on different Lahore roads would reach in front of the Punjab Assembly.

PROTEST: The contract employees of the Government Commerce College on Sunday protested against the non-payment of their salaries for the month of April.

According to Secretary of Contract Teachers Association, Prof.Shahnshah Haider Zaidi, the Punjab government had never paid them salaries regularly. He said due to non-payment of their monthly salaries, they faced financial hardships.

NAWAB ABBASI: The services of the late Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi were eulogised at functions held at Sadiq Public School (SPS), Islamia University Bahawalpur and other institutions.

At a high court bar association’s function, bar president Khair Muhammad Bhadera and other senior lawyers paid tributes to the late Nawab for his services.

SPS Principal Prof. Nauman Qureshi lauded the contribution of the late Nawab for the establishment of this premier institution.
