DUBLIN: Ireland has voted to introduce gay marriage by 62 per cent of ballots cast in favour and 38pc against, official figures showed on Saturday. Only one of Ireland’s 43 constituencies, Roscommon-South Leitrim in the centre of the republic, voted against the constitutional change.

Out of a total electorate of 3,221,681, some 1,949,725 people cast their ballots in Friday’s referendum, meaning a turnout of 60.52pc. There were 13,818 invalid ballot papers.
