Pesco to set up five new subdivisions

PESHAWAR: The Board of Directors of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Friday approved setting up of five new subdivisions in Abbottabad and Timergara districts ostensibly to facilitate customers and improve electricity supply.

A statement issued at the end of the Pesco’s 98th BoD meeting said approval was also granted for the purchase of 22 power transformers to improve electricity supply.

The meeting decided to increase loadshedding in areas with high losses and directed Pesco field staff to achieve the given targets. The meeting was chaired by Malik Mohammad Asad Khan.

The statement said that Pesco’s BoD accorded approval of trifurcation of Abbottabad City-1 by creating Shimla Hill and Abbottabad City-2 subdivisions.

Abbottabad is the home district of Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, who held two meetings with Pesco’s BoD at the Governor House, last week.

Similarly, the meeting also approved the trifurcation of Timargara-1 subdivision by creating two new subdivisions comprising Samar Bagh and Lal Qila.

The meeting approved the upgradation of Puran sub-office into Puran operation subdivision. Puran, district headquarters of Shangla, is the hometown of Prime Minister’s Focal Person for KP, MNA Amir Muqam.

Pesco’s BoD also accorded approval for the purchase of 22 power transformers.

The meeting discussed loadshedding schedule in the context of current energy crisis and ordered to give relief to ‘good’ customers.
