KARACHI: Police on Friday night claimed to have killed three suspected gangsters in an `encounter’ in the area of Lyari.

They said that during a search operation in Kalri area police came under attack and in the ensuing encounter three suspects were killed.

They were identified as Sikandar alias Sikoo, Sameer alias Samoo and Jehangir alias Jhengo. City SSP Fida Hussain said they belonged to Uzair Baloch group.

“They were involved in targeted killings, extortion and short-term kidnapping for ransom,” he said, adding that hand-grenades, 9mm pistols and ammunition were seized on them.
