Police arrest 14 suspects in Upper Dir

UPPER DIR: The police arrested 14 suspects in a search operation launched after a student of a private school in Bibyawar here complained to the teachers that some unidentified men tried to give him a toy-like object to take it inside the school on Monday.

Station House Officer (SHO), Gandigar police station, Shaukat Khan told this correspondent over telephone that the school administration called the police station and told them that some unidentified men tried to give a mobile-like toy to a student of 5th class to take it inside the school.

The SHO said that when the student was questioned about it he told the police that some men tried to give him a toy and told him that he would get lots of money by pressing its button during break time in the school.

The student said that he refused to take the toy from the men and ran away from the place, he added.

Later, the security forces and police cordoned off the area and started a search operation. The SHO said that 14 suspects were detained for interrogation after the incident.

Parents rushed to the school after the news spread in the area. But, the security forces closed the school and conducted search in the area. The forces also called the bomb disposal squad to search the school building and surrounding areas.
