Convict escapes from court

ISLAMABAD: A convict escaped from court after the magistrate ordered his arrest, police said on Saturday.

The accused was arrested by Aabpara police in connection with a cheque dishonouring case registered in October 2010.

The accused was produced before judicial magistrate Humayun Dilawar and after hearing the arguments, the adjudicator fined him Rs50,000, the police said, adding that when he failed to pay the fine the judge awarded him three months jail.

When a head constable tried to take him into custody the convict pushed him away and escaped from the heavily guarded district and sessions court in F-8.

Margalla police have registered a case against the accused.
