Bureaucrat’s daughter caught cheating in exam: BIEK

KARACHI: A raid on the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Memon Goth, and a quick check of their attendance sheet by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) super vigilance team on Saturday revealed that three students had been marked present even though they were absent from the examination hall, according to a statement issued here.

On investigating it was found that the three students were appearing for their botany exam in a separate room. The students were identified as Mussarat Shaheen (roll no 850533), Amna Ghazala Yunus (roll no 850532) and Paras Shah (roll no 850504). All were found cheating and using unfair means in exams, the statement added. When the vigilance team tried to make a case against them they were stopped in their tracks by the examination centre’s staff who informed them that of the three girls caught cheating red-handed, Mussarat Shaheen, was the daughter of assistant commissioner of Malir Malik Mohammad Yousuf Abbas, the statement added.

When the vigilance team was not impressed by it, they were stopped from leaving the premises by the staff. That was when they called BIEK controller of examinations Mohammad Imran Khan Chishti to inform him about the situation. Mr Chishti decided to visit the centre himself and was surprised to find no police person providing security at the centre. The first thing he did then was to immediately dismiss the staff at the exam centre. Later, he also submitted a report about the incident to his superior and BIEK chairman Prof Dr Anwar Ahmed Zai, the statement said.
