Explosives, suicide jackets recovered

PESHAWAR: The police claimed on Friday to have recovered a big quantity of explosives, toy bombs and suicide jackets during a search operation in limits of Paharipura police station here.

A police spokesman said the explosives included toy bombs, 350 kilogram explosives packed in bags, suicide jackets and detonators.

The official said that it was yet to be known who had left the lethal materials, and that police had launched efforts to arrest the culprits.

However, another source said that some Afghan nationals were involved in keeping the lethal materials for sabotage attempts. But police foiled their bid by timely recovering the explosives.

The spokesman said the police had launched search and strike operation across the Peshawar district to arrest the people involved in different crimes.

He said many tenants, who failed to share the required information with police, had also been arrested. Published in Dawn, May 2nd, 2015
