Man held for trying to rape minor

ISLAMABAD: The capital police obtained the custody of a man on a two-day physical remand for allegedly attempting to rape a seven-year-old girl on the premises of a worship place, the police and relatives of the minor said on Saturday.

They added that the prayer leader of the worship place located at G-6/1-3 spotted a stranger trying to rape the daughter of his neighbour outside a washroom.

The prayer leader sought the help of people from the nearby areas who rushed to the spot and started beating the man.

Later, the police were informed who reached the spot and shifted the accused to the police station.

An uncle of the girl, who is also the complainant in the case, said she had gone to a market where a man asked her to call the prayer leader from the worship place. When the girl entered the worship place, the stranger followed her and took her to the washroom area. The prayer leader alleged that the man was trying to assault the minor.
